June 5, World Environment Day “One Earth”.
The event was presented by Leo Harlem, mentor of the Project MIRARwas attended by María Sánchez, Councilor for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Valladolid City Council. Valladolid City Counciland president of AQUAVALLThe deputy mayor Manuel Saravia, the president of Fundación Personas Ángeles Garcia and the sculptor Luis Gil.
It was attended by 70 young creators of the MIRAR2.0 Project who carried water from the rivers Carrión, Duero and Canal de Castilla, La Granja de Segovia, Morales and Aguilar de Campoo who participated with interventions in poetry and prose preceded by the music of the Increscendo Quartet & friends who performed among other themes Pirates of the Caribbean coinciding with the release of water through the leaves.
The sculpture of more than four meters made of stainless steel is composed of six large leaves designed by each of the groups of Guardo, Zamora, Aguilar de Campoo, Segovia, Palencia and Valladolid within the MIRAR2.0 -Fundación Personas project and in addition to respecting the shapes designed by each one, they include their words: Resilience, Peace, Solidarity, Joy, Equality and Illusion.
Sculptor Luis Gil has included in his work the plural creativity of people with different abilities. In the The general appearance of the fountain is reminiscent of and resembles a tree. A thick trunk from which six huge leaves emerge.
The water springs from the top of the trunk and slides from one leaf to another until, sliding down the trunk, it disappears through the hollow as a cork, from which the tree emerges. With the symbol of water as a union of universal values in this World Environment Day and sharing ONE EARTH.
The day concluded with a visit to the Planetarium of the Science Museum where we enjoyed the screening of the documentary “Hello Earth” and ended with a ride on the boat La Leyenda del Pisuerga.
Nature and people are at the center of environmental work.
