In memory of Luis López Llorente

In memory of Luis López Llorente

DearLuis,

I hope you know that many of us have been very saddened by your departure, with that face of sorrow that comes from deep inside and all for being the way you have always been.

I have been asked by our dear Association to write four letters in your memory. We have known each other since the day you approached Asprona, a little over 40 years ago, in search of a care service for your son Luisito.

Like many other parents, you were concerned about their present and future, the low social awareness in the environment and the scarcity of opportunities and resources to provide them with the best care. I remember that from the inside you were soon infected by the enthusiasm, integrity and determination of the first families of the Association and their determination to open a door to the normalization of your children with disabilities with the rest of the citizens.

Soon you began to stand out, under your always impenitent modesty and modesty, with what really caught me in you, your greatness as a person, your vitality, your feelings, your determination and your permanent and generous availability for everything and everyone, for whatever it was necessary, even for the most humble and sacrificed tasks. I don’t know how you managed or where you found the time, but you were always there, in the gap, also making many other parents, family members, professionals and volunteers hooked to your wake.

I have never forgotten the courage with which you faced with Trini and Maite the unfortunate loss of Luisito and how you remained linked to the Association afterwards, lending a hand, both as a member of the Board of Directors and on many other fronts. I remember with sympathy and tenderness the years when you headed the cleaning platoon of the road where the Asprona March had passed, along with your group of Scouts of whom you were so proud at all times, whom we always saw infected with your enthusiasm. As a great sportsman that you were, we also saw your mark during the ten years in which you presided over the Federation of Adapted Sports of Castilla y León, in which you took the sport of people with disabilities in this land to the highest levels and where you also left many good friends.

In this way Luis, little by little, always under a humble and close demeanor, a permanent attitude of service, by his own merit, you are part of the panel of illustrious people who have forged the genuine and recognized character of the people of this house fighting to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

Dear Luis, please accept this heartfelt and well-deserved tribute in recognition of your person and the affection and gratitude of all of us.

A hug.

Lorenzo Gonzalez Torres
