We had a very special visit. Victor Manuel from Pedrajas de San Esteban published 5 years ago a book entitled“Memorias de un cuidador variopinto“. The book was presented at the 57th anniversary of Asprona – Fundación Personas in the auditorium of the library of Castilla y León. library of Castilla y León.
Victor has donated to AFACI (Association of relatives of Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the region of Iscar) and Fundación Personas the proceeds from its sale, just over 8,000 euros.
The simple event took place in the Envite buildingThe simple ceremony took place in the Envite building, headquarters of Fundación Personas, where Ángeles García, President of Fundación Personas, thanked Víctor Manuel Sanz for this donation.
Ángeles commented that what she liked the most was the first-person message of what it means to care for a person with a disability.It is very enriching, as well as an example for many people who don’t know about disability or what it implies.“.
For his part, Victor had a few words of affection and commented that he wrote the book because he had a story to tell, “When I was a child I had a dream.When I was a little boy I had a dream…to write a book and help others….dream fulfilled..”
Victor wanted to recall the origin of the project and tells us that it has been easy to create. “I used to write poetry and one day I had so many that I decided to capture each poem in a chapter” In them he talks about his son Álvaro, his parents and himself. All told with many anecdotes to approach it in a fun way.
He has been called and congratulated by many people for his great work and his natural and simple way of normalizing disability.
