The president of the Provincial Council, Ángeles Armisén, accompanied by the deputy of Social Services Alfonso Polanco, has received in the Provincial Palace the representatives of the Fundación Personas and the group of families with disabilities of Guardo with the aim of discussing issues related to the Center that the Fundación Personas manages in Guardo.
The central theme of the meeting was the search for collaboration with the Provincial Institution, to expand the residence, which complements the special employment center and day stays. That is to say, to construct a building next to the already existing one to be able to expand the occupation of the same one; going from 13 current places to 8 more with this increase. This expansion also has a long-term project, in case it is necessary to expand the infrastructure again. Both extensions are contemplated as an accessibility project for all corners of the new infrastructure.
To this end, they have submitted a technical report that values the construction of this new building at 350,000 euros and its equipment at 40,000. It is precisely in this last part, the acquisition of the equipment of the building in which the president of the Provincial Council undertook to study the collaboration.
It is a residence for people with disabilities that serves the entire region of Guardo and, therefore, is articulated as a key service for the care of people in the north of the province, for which the Provincial Institution is clearly committed.
On an annual basis, the Provincial Council signs a collaboration agreement with Fundación Personas for the development of its activities, aimed at improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities. With this, the Foundation undertakes to carry out activities of prevention, care and integration of people with intellectual disabilities in the province of Palencia, mainly in the northern area. The amount of this agreement had in 2019 an endowment of 11,550 euros.
