Given the exceptional situation, Fundación Personas is an active part of the value chains that socially responsible, non-profit companies build. We offer daily comprehensive care services to more than 2,500 people with disabilities in Castilla y León. All people as equals and different from the rest of the population, together with their families, we have managed the isolation in homes as well as possible.
At the same time that we present different needs, when a problem like COVID-19 appears, there are no social borders and we realize in a clear way that there is no reason to create them either. That is why we want to thank the whole society for their understanding when they have seen people with disabilities accompanied on therapeutic outings in the street.
Although our Early Care, School, Day and Occupational Centers are closed, providing part of their services online, the Residences and Homes are still open with 600 people with disabilities inside, providing an extraordinary service and providing solutions of high social value with the support of admirable professionals. We also maintain continuous telematic contact with families for close monitoring and to detect possible needs.
Historically, disability care Associations and Foundations have focused on the promotion of capabilities, not on the disability of each person and always with resilience as a transformative opportunity, to bring the best of ourselves.
We are responding to this situation in our centers in Guardo, making coveralls, masks and reinforcement protective aprons for health centers and for our own centers. Washing, disinfection and packaging service of more than 12,000 units of facial protectors for different town councils in the province of Palencia.
In Valladolid, volunteers make masks or gowns with TNT, an insulating material provided by the company Seresca.
Fundación Personas Zamora participates in a maker group of companies with 3D printers, creating more than 1,000 protective screens for anti-splash masks, masks, aprons, door-opener adapters or hooks for masks, which are distributed to various health services such as 112, security forces, residences, volunteer networks and NGOs that request them.
With these occasional collaborations and always in our daily work, we promote social economy with a sustainable basis, investing in comprehensive care services tailored to each person and their family needs, providing social wealth in every way. To achieve this, we support the extraordinary side of people, illuminating capabilities and facing multiple objectives from a committed mission and social vanguard.
We are here, within the local, regional, national or European framework, to be an essential part, ready to support and collaborate in the reconstruction in a personal, integral and inclusive way.
