Radio Colores with the Universidad Popular and Fundación Personas Palencia in RTVCYL

2-1

Elena Alonso and Javier Manrique, speakers, accompanied by Cristina Arija and Alberto Fernández, support professionals of Fundación Personas, have shared with Cristina Camell a lively discussion in the program Vamos a Ver, within the section “Extraordinary People”.

Since 1990, young people with other abilities have been doing a weekly program on this radio station launched by the Universidad Popular de Palencia and called Radio Colores.

To date, they attend on a weekly and biweekly basis (one is the self-management group and the other is the residential service group). They have their own tuning.

It is an educational radio. The radio programs follow a script and the participants contribute ideas they want to talk about. It is a way of being present in society and sharing experiences.

The script consists of giving news from their center, news from Palencia that they find interesting, news about disability. They play the music they like when they change the subject. Then they continue with a discussion about current events, they also talk about sports, the weather… They read a cooking recipe and end with a story and its moral.

They have interviewed politicians and people from Palencia’s public life, associations and other protagonists.

Radio is a medium they use to make the voice of people with disabilities heard and it is called “Our Voice Matters”.

Last week they participated in the fourth Inclusive Radio Marathon, on World Radio Day.
They talked about the performing arts and how they impact the well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities.
In previous years they talked about sports and disability, cognitive accessibility and electoral programs.

Long live Radio Colores!
