A magical morning with diversity, art, emotion and humor as protagonists.

The story begins with Leo Harlem joining joy to social commitment to continue with the narration of the super powers of Arturo and his mother Inés Rodríguez Hidalgo becoming accomplices in disability and different capacities. The narration of the writer Gustavo Martín Garzo looking at what we lack and at the same time complements us with the others. The photographic project of Ricardo González where more than 70 images of doors and spaces taken by participants of the MIRAR Project invite us to reflect on our individual space and collective interaction.

Visual artist Carmen Cañibano has been opening up new spaces for people with intellectual disabilities for years by proposing projects that offer extraordinary opportunities for everyday objects and actions.

Elena Bravo together with Cristina García invited us to share capabilities without exclusion, exchanging disability for different capabilities and Miguel Ángel Verdugo emphasized the capacity views in conjunction with the need to also see disability as a reality that needs to be recognized in the professional sections to provide support resources and without forgetting the importance of language as a transforming element.

The direct participation of the public contributed to some reflections on education and learning through training and with all attendees leaving a creative mark in a phrase, word or drawing that they delivered at the end in “the cart of ideas”.

The event was complemented by the intervention of Marta Sanz, first vice-president of the Ateneo, who highlighted the historic fact that disability is made visible in this historic space, and Natalia Díaz Simancas, Head of Social Action Castilla y León of Caixabank. Caixabank reflecting on the opportunity as a key for each person to have their life project and develop their capabilities.

Throughout the interventions the creative team MIRAR coordinated by Mabel Acebedo accompanied by Manolo Godoy, Gustavo Barrigón and Miguel Hernandez from Zamora drew in livepainting expressions, portraits, gestures of attendees who were giving away during the event.

As a final touch, the masterful interpretation of two songs by Patricia Esquivel and Raúl Liébana, accompanied on the piano by maestro Jorge Colino of the association AMGU (Musical Group of Guardo)

Among the attendees were Ángeles García, president of Fundación Personas, María Paz Martín Esteban, director of the Royal Botanical Garden, and María Paz Martín Esteban, director of the Royal Botanical GardenFran Sardón president of CERMI CyL and Fernando Riaño, director of CSR and Institutional Relations of the ONCE Social Group.

An unforgettable morning to continue adding tiles to the social transformation with diversity and creativity as protagonists.
