Fundación Personas hosted a working meeting focused on analyzing the difficulties and progress in the implementation of Law 8/2021, on support for the legal capacity of people with disabilities.
The event brought together some twenty participants, among them Mauricio Muñoz, Magistrate Delegate for Disability in Castilla y León, and Mª José Burgos, Prosecutor Delegate for Disability in the Community. Professionals and families from Fundación Personas also participated, along with representatives from Centro San Juan de Dios and FUTUDIS.

The meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of dialogue and collaboration, made it possible to share experiences and proposals for improvement on the challenges posed by the implementation of the new support model. Among the main challenges mentioned are the lack of resources, the pending regulatory development of some aspects of the law and the impact on other administrative and labor areas.
This conference is part of the joint work promoted by the Federation and the Network of Jurists of Castilla y León, which seeks to strengthen the connection between the legal field and disability entities. Similar meetings were previously held in Ávila and León, bringing together a total of more than 60 professionals from the judicial and social fields.
From Fundación Personas, we are proud to have ceded our space to promote this necessary exchange, which helps to improve coordination between entities and legal operators, and, ultimately, to ensure better care and protection of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
