● Fundación Personas Cuéllar thus renews its training offer with a new program for a gardening and ecological horticulture assistant.
● The initiative has been selected within the ‘Social Call 2023‘ that promotes initiatives focused on the promotion of employment and occupational guidance, local development, social inclusion and care for dependency and accessibility.

The project, selected by CaixaBank y Caja Segovia Foundationin the call for ‘Social Action Grants 2023, will train 11 people with intellectual disabilities from the Day and Occupational Centers of Fundación Personas in Cuéllar.
The project: “Gardening and ecological horticulture assistant” of Fundación Personas in Cuéllar has been selected by CaixaBank and Fundación Caja Segovia in the call for ‘Social Action Grants 2023’, which aims to promote local development and employment by supporting sectors of the population at risk of social exclusion and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities, the elderly and other socially vulnerable groups.
One more year the entity Fundación Personas in Cuéllar will launch a new training project for a total of 14 people with intellectual disabilities in the day-occupational center thanks to this economic collaboration with the Torreón de Lozoya Foundation and CaixaBank.
The objective of this project is to train a group of people with intellectual disabilities from the Ntra. Sra. de los Ángeles Center of Fundación Personas Cuéllar in the skills and abilities, as well as in the social and communicational values necessary to carry out the tasks and functions of this training, which will allow them in the short term to have an occupational, therapeutic and rehabilitative training activity in their center.
The specific objectives of the program are:
● Identify and know the tasks and main characteristics of organic gardening and horticulture
versus conventional, and the benefits in the production of organic products.
● Use the main tools and tools needed to operate in an organic garden and gardens,
as well as the rules of use and maintenance of them.
● Perform, with the appropriate work techniques, the operations of an orchard and garden adjusting
each of the operations to the corresponding type of crop.
● Acquire the necessary knowledge about the main product control and guarantee systems,
providing the fundamental procedures for consumption.
● Perform the main operations to initiate the conversion of conventional to ecological spaces.
The project will begin on June 19 and is scheduled to end on November 10, 2023, and it is intended to be maintained over time. The theoretical training will be carried out at the Ntra. Sra. de los Ángeles Center and the practical training in the facilities and services of the Fundación Personas centers in Cuéllar and in the orchard itself. The main objective of these trainings is to achieve the normalization, inclusion and improvement of the quality of life of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, since the work favors their personal autonomy, their participation in the life of the community and improve their level of self-esteem.

Fundación Personas was created in 2008 by five associations in Castilla y León: ADECAS Guardo, ASPANIS Palencia, APADEFIM Segovia, ASPRONA Valladolid and ASPROSUB Zamora.
