Carlos Martín Pérez appointed new president of Apadefim and Fundación Personas

After the celebration of the Ordinary General Assembly yesterday, June 12, the new Board of Directors of APADEFIM was constituted in Extraordinary Session, held the same day, being appointed Mr. Carlos Martín Pérez new President, succeeding Mr. Maximino Viloria Castro who has held the position since 2017.

The new President, until now First Vice President of its Board of Directors, is a member of APADEFIM. APADEFIMto which he has been linked for more than thirty years. With a degree in Law (University of Deusto) and studies in Business Studies (ICADE), Diploma in Business Tax Consultancy (School of Industrial Organization, Madrid), he has practiced law in Segovia and Madrid since July 1, 1978, combining it with the Administration of several family Business Entities. He is currently Secretary of the Board of Directors of Plena Inclusión Castilla y León. Plena Inclusión Castilla y LeónHe has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Guardianship Foundation of Castilla y León, FUTIDIS, and Secretary of the Association of Support Entities for Decision Making, LIBER.

Carlos Martín Pérez has recently been unanimously appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FUNDACION PERSONAS, replacing Ángeles García, who was in charge of the Foundation for the last 6 years.

During the Assembly, the Annual Report for 2024, the annual accounts for that year, the projects for 2025 and the budget for the same year were approved.

Part of the Board of Directors was also renewed, and the President, Mr. Maximino Viloria, the Second Vice-President, Mr. José Mariano Tabanera and the member Felisa Galindo resigned from their posts. In the Board of Directors’ Meeting held after the General Assembly, Mr. Antonio Luis Tapias Domínguez was appointed First Vice-President and Ms. Fuencisla Moreno Hernán Second Vice-President. The new Board was constituted as follows:

Fundación Personas was born in 2008 as a non-profit organization, with the aim of managing the centers and services of several entities in the field of intellectual disabilities in Castilla y León. Its mission, from the beginning, has been to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and strengthen the welfare of their families.

The Foundation has its roots in five historical associations of families of people with intellectual disabilities(Asprona Valladolid, Asprosub Zamora, Aspanis Palencia, Adecas Guardo and Apadefim Segovia), which have been working for more than 60 years for the inclusion and rights of this group. In 2008, these associations decided to join forces to create a more efficient entity with greater capacity for action.

Fundación Personas has a staff of approximately 2,113 employees, distributed between its educational-care and labor areas. In the educational-care area, 1,129 professionals work, attending 2,500 places in the 75 centers of the foundation spread throughout the provinces of Valladolid, Palencia, Zamora and Segovia. In the labor area, the Foundation manages three special employment centers (CEE), with 984 professionals, of whom more than 90% have some kind of disability.

In terms of people served, Fundación Personas provides services to 4,100 people, of whom 2,600 have intellectual disabilities. In addition, 900 workers with disabilities are employed in its EWCs, and 1,500 users participate in other programs aimed at different social groups.
