IV Family Meeting

Five families with more than one child with a disability received recognition for their incredible work.

On Saturday, 21 September, in La Lastrilla, more than 200 relatives of people with intellectual disabilities shared a day focused on internal cohesion among attendees in Guardo, Palencia, Segovia, Valladolid y Zamora under the slogan “Families: The force behind The People Foundation”.

This success is preceded by the great lengths many families have gone to for more than sixty years, building a model of quality care, focused on trust and social commitment.
In attendance were Ana Peñalosa, Councilor of Social Services of the Segovia City Council, Azucena Suárez, Delegate of Social Action of the Provincial Council, Carmen Well, Territorial Manager of Social Services of the Castile and Leon Autonomous Governement and the mayor of La Lastrilla, Vicente Calle. The event was chaired by the President of APADEFIM and the General Director of the People Foundation, Maximino Viloria and Jesús Mazariegos respectively.

The People Foundation cares for 5,300 people with intellectual disabilities in Castilla and León on a daily basis, providing comprehensive services throughout the entire life cycle in the fields of Education, Employment and Social Services. In his speech, Maximino Viloria, secretary of the Board of Trustees of The People Foundation and President of APADEFIM Segovia, highlighted the historical, trailblazing and forward-thinking contribution of these honourees representing 3,000 families.

We are obliged to keep doing our utmost to respond to each new need that arises, so that people with intellectual disabilities can lead as normal a life as possible.

The following families were honoured: González León from ASPANIS, Franco Martín from ADECAS, Fernández Velasco from ASPRONA, Campo Cimarras from ASPROSUB and Marinas Bernabé from APADEFIM.
